Equipment
In the Physics Laboratory there is the possibility of carrying out 42 practices on the different contents of the physics subjects:
- 14 mechanics practices
- 7 of thermodynamics
- 11 of electricity and magnetism
- 10 oscillations and waves
All the information about the practices and the description of the equipment can be found on the laboratory website http://epsem.upc.edu/~practiquesfisica/. This website also has a series of videos that allow some of the practices to be carried out virtually and gives the possibility to follow each practice as if it were done directly in the laboratory.
Among the equipment of the mechanics practices we can highlight:
- The air lane
- Maxwell's wheel
- The hydrostatic balance
- The Möhr-Westphal scale
- Pendulums, springs, discs, rings...
Of the thermodynamic practices we would highlight:
- The Stirling engine
- The U-shaped column of mercury
- The solar collector
- The electric calorimeter
Of the practices of electricity and magnetism, the following stands out:
- The photovoltaic solar panel
- The wire bridge
- The magnetic field generated by a straight conductor and by coils
Of the practices of oscillations and waves, we could highlight:
- The coupled pendulums
- Pohl's pendulum
- The ultrasonic unit
- The luxometer
On the roof of the laboratory we will also find a meteorological and radiometric station, which has been recording meteorological data since 1979
